Project in progress
A trip to the London Archaeology Museum provides one with a different sense of time, a prehistoric time, a time when glaciers once covered our site, and when they receded. There is the time of first inhabitation and the time of Indigenous settlement. First contact and white settlement is only one marker along the way — It is not the beginning of the story and hence our images do not begin there but in this larger cosmos described. The work we are proposing (both here and in the original proposal) takes this "Long Now" into account together with the idea of the horizon, transporting viewers into a timeless space. It functions within the field of the fusion of time and perception, using the horizon and light as a locus connecting the building’s linear masses and the surrounding landscape.
